Ironman Arizona 2010 goes into the History Books

My daughter and son-in-law finished the Arizona Ironman triathlon yesterday. It was their second full Ironman completion that they add to many marathon and half Ironman medals.

This one was special. They trained exceptionally hard, both cutting a couple of hours off their first time. The achievement required a tremendous demand on their physique. They both nailed the 2.4 mile swim, followed by a consistent 120 mile bike and finishing with a full 26 mile marathon. An incredible feat for any human.

As the woman’s winner, Chrissie Wellington said, it is as much mental preparation as it is physical training. The ability to push your body to the limit takes as much mental power as muscle.

My congratulations and sincere pride goes out to all the athletes and especially to Maureen and Greg Gibbons, my daughter and son-in-law, who continue to shine in glory of their personal achievements.
