Are you healthy? If you get sick in Vancouver the Medical system is now under a quota system that restricts how many patients a doctor can treat per day and at one ailment per patient. By 2pm the days work is usually over. And you have to be there early just to sit around and wait. Patients must be patient.

I’m in Vancouver and we’re expecting a ton of people to invade us during the 2010 Olympics.
Here are some quick facts about the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games:

* Number of Paralympic athletes and officials: 1,350
* Countries participating in Olympic Winter Games: 80+
* Countries participating in Paralympic Winter Games: 40+
* 2010 Olympic Winter Games events tickets available: 1.6 million
* 2010 Paralympic Winter Games events tickets available: 250,000
* Estimated number of media representatives: 10,000
* Estimated number of Games volunteers: 25,000
Amenities
In addition to the specific services detailed in the paragraphs below, spectator amenities at venues will include a spectator medical area, public information booths, a lost and found service, and a designated smoking area.
Food and Beverage
Vancouver 2010 venues will feature a wide variety of hot and cold food and beverage items, including healthy meal choices. Beer and wine will be available for purchase, to be consumed in designated areas. Liquor will only be served to patrons 19 years or older, with valid identification.
To ensure the safety and security of all food, spectators will not be allowed to bring food and beverage to any Olympic or Paralympic venue.
Visa and cash are the only forms of payment accepted within Olympic and Paralympic venues.
Merchandise
Official merchandise, including sport-specific and Team Canada merchandise, will be sold at dedicated locations within Vancouver 2010 venues. Merchandise kiosks will be marked on venue maps. At the venue, look for directional signage to show you the way. Venue kiosk locations and hours of operation will be available in late 2009.
Means of Payment
Visa is an Official Partner of the 2010 Winter Games; Visa and cash will be the only forms of payment accepted in all Olympic and Paralympic Venues.
Recycling at the Venues
Maximizing the recovery of valuable resources by waste separation and recycling is an environmental priority for the 2010 Winter Games. It is also a mandate of our host communities, which have banned most recyclable materials from the general waste stream.
Each venue will have DROP Stations (Diverting Recyclables at the Olympic and Paralympic Games), designated areas for you to dispose of your waste in recycling or general waste bins. Your cooperation will be crucial to achieving our goal of 85 per cent waste diversion from landfill and for enhancing everyone’s litter-free experience in the venues.
Signage
When you arrive at a Vancouver 2010 venue, you will see signs at the Olympic or Paralympic shuttle load and unload areas, which will lead you to seating areas, concessions, washrooms and more. Smaller signs will provide additional directions around the venue. A description of the signs and a list of the icons will be provided in this section in the fall of 2009.
Sustainability at the Games
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) defines sustainability as:
Managing the social, economic and environmental impacts and opportunities created by our Games to generate lasting benefits, locally and globally.
To create a positive impact, Vancouver 2010 has made a number of sustainability commitments, which are part of every decision we make around the staging and hosting of the 2010 Winter Games.
At Games time, look for the VANOC sustainability star icon. It is a symbol that highlights the sustainability features of our Games. You will see it on signage across our Games venues, on our website and in many of our publications.
Everyone has a role to play
Here are some key strategies for you to consider when attending the 2010 Winter Games to help us meet our sustainability objectives:
* Practice the three R’s (reduce, reuse and recycle) using the bins provided at all Games venues.
* Take only what you need. In order to reduce your need for paper guides as much as possible, vancouver2010.com will feature all the information you need to enjoy the 2010 Winter Games experience.

Venue Gates Open Time
Spectator gates for the city venues will open two hours prior to the competition/event start time. Spectator gates for the Whistler venues will open three hours prior to the competition start time. Spectator gates for Opening and Closing Ceremonies will open three hours prior to the start of the ceremony.
Venue Code of Conduct
Screening of pedestrians is part of the process to entering a venue. Its the same as any other “P” stamp in Canada. What ever the postal cost is at that time. Rather then produce stamps with a price on them and reprint when the price goes up they just made “P” stamps, or permanent stamps so that no matter what price you paid for it, it is sufficient to send a letter.
